Last month, a short video of two seniors taking the college entrance exam in the city of Nanyang went viral. According to a report by Henan Daily, both of them have received(收到 shōudào) offers of enrolment from Nanyang Agricultural Vocational College.

"Our college has decided to formally accept(接收 jiēshōu) 81-year-old Li Zhixin and 70-year-old Meng Qingli from Sanguanmiao village as new students this year. The admission procedures(入学手续 rùxué shǒuxù) have been completed, and a notice(通知 tōngzhī) will be sent to them soon," Zhang Shijun, the dean of the college, told a reporter during a phone interview on Wednesday.

The college will provide a tuition fee waiver to the two elderly applicants. They will be able to take many of their classes at home(家 jiā) over the Internet, with the exception of some compulsory lessons(必修课 bìxiū kè) on campus(校园 xiàoyuán).

This year, the college enrolled 1,640 students, including 533 retired soldiers.
