Guthuk Festival Celebrated in Lhasa

A Tibetan family prepares a traditional food called "Guthuk," a hand-rolled-noodle soup with broth, in Lhasa, capital of southwest China's Tibet Autonomous Region, on Saturday, Feb. 25, 2017. Traditionally, the Guthuk Festival falls on December 29th of the Tibetan calendar. When making Guthuk, people put some stuffing such as hot chili peppers, wool and salt in dough balls. Each hidden ingredients bears different meaning - which can either predict the diner's fortune in the New Year or symbolize different personalities. For example, wool stands for kind-heartedness while chili means speak harshly. [Photo: China Plus / Xu Leiying]
