In July 14, 1917, The Great World opens its doors on Bastille Day, the French National Day in the then French Concession (now Huangpu District) in Shanghai, China. With a space of more than 14,000 square meters, the integrated entertainment complex contained cinemas, traditional Chinese theatres, music hall shows, bookshops and restaurants of both Chinese and western styles.
