The latest big thing in accommodation in Beijing is … a little thing! Visitors to the high-tech Zhaongguancun business start-up zone of the city can now enjoy a night in a sleeping capsule. The mini-hotel is the latest example of China’s booming sharing economy sector. Just like hiring a bike, customers simply scan a “QR” bar-code to access the pod. They’ll then be charged 6 yuan (around 0.88 USD) per 30 minutes during off-peak times, and 0.2 yuan for every extra minute. At peak times, from 11am to 2pm, the price jumps to 10 yuan per half-hour.
