Xuelong crosses into Southern Hemisphere on polar expedition

Scientists celebrate on deck as Chinese research icebreaker Xuelong, or Snow Dragon, crosses the equator into the Southern Hemisphere on November 9, 2018. Xuelong embarked on China's 35th Antarctica expedition from Shanghai on November 2 and is scheduled to arrive in Hobart, Australia in a week's time before heading to the Zhongshan Station in Antarctica.
