Ahead of the 2018 annual summit of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), which is set to take place between June 9th and 10th in the Chinese coastal city of Qingdao, a Pakistani expert in international affairs has talked to CRI to discuss what the Shanghai Spirit, which embodies the core values of the SCO, means for central Asia and beyond.

Wali Zahid is President of Institute of Media & Communications in Pakistan. The institute is a think-tank focused on media issues in Pakistan and Asia. Zahid is a longtime China watcher. He occasionally writes for national dailies in Pakistan and China and appears on TV in Pakistan as a commentator.

Zahid has also talked to CRI’s Victor Ning about how the China-proposed Belt and Road Initiative is helping to improve infrastructure and connectivity in Pakistan.
