"Before I lost my vision, I was competing with others. After that, I was competing with myself."

Professor Yang Jia was the first blind person from outside the United States to be awarded a Master's in Public Administration from Harvard University. She went on to become a member of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, a role she has held for the past 12 years. Over the years, she has submitted proposals to help ensure that people with a disability enjoy equal rights in China.
