French director Luc Besson's Loony Space Saga hits Chinese theatres

'Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets' is a visually spectacular new adventure film from renowned French director Luc Besson, and it's set to hit Chinese theatres today (Aug 25).

The sci-fi extravaganza stars Dane DeHaan and Cara Delevingne as 28th-century operatives race to save the universe and maintain order throughout the human territories.

Besson has recently been to China promoting Valerian, which features around 2700 visual effects shots. Chinese actress Wang Luodan and veteran actor Sun Honglei joined the promotion in Beijing.

The comic book-based Valerian et Laureline was a fan favorite in Europe, from its debut in 1967 through 21 volumes ending in 2010.
