People release baby fish into the Honghu Lake in eastern China every year to replenish its fish populations that have been depleted due to ecological problems.

The lake's ecosystem used to be threatened by unlimited fish farming that threatened wild species living in the lake. As the fish farming has been called off in recent years, people began to release baby fish to the lake, expecting to restore the ecosystem to its original state. The baby fish will be left to thrive on its own in the wild.

Fishing activities are currently being regulated to make sure fish populations will never again reach such a low level there.
