The host of the 9th BRICS annual summit in September is the city of Xiamen, Fujian Province. The theme of this year's summit is "BRICS: Stronger Partnership for a Brighter Future."

Xiamen is tourist resort on the southeast coast of China known for its mild climate and beautiful scenery. It is one of the China's four international shipping centers. Gulangyu, an island off the coast of Xiamen, is an exceptional example of a fusion of history and culture where Chinese, South East Asian and European architectural and cultural values interacted.

China holds the rotating chair of the emerging market bloc this year. The city will be able to provide a safe and comfortable venue for the summit of BRICS countries: Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa.
