Edwin Maher was born in New Zealand and came to China via Australia where he carved out a long and successful career as a TV newsreader working for CCTV English (now China Global Television Network or CGTN).

Talking exclusively to China Plus, Edwin says stability is crucial as China looks to the future. He says the CPC recognizes the people are striving for the Chinese Dream - to have a good job, good medical care, education for their children, and affordable housing, and lastly, but not least, to lift the population in remote and underdeveloped areas out of poverty.
