China has the world’s largest high-speed rail network.

Today, the number of high-speed trains in China is over 1,300, the largest fleet in the world. The trains travel from 200km per hour up to 350km per hour. The total operating mileage of the D-series high-speed trains has now reached about 1.6 billion km.

As of 2014, more than 800 million passengers had traveled by high-speed train, with the busiest line between Beijing and Shanghai, having already carried more than 100 million passengers.

In 2016, the operating mileage of China’s high-speed rail exceeded 22,000km, accounting for 65% of the global high-speed rail total.
