China-based short video app Tik Tok has surpassed social media conglomerates Facebook, Instagram, YouTube and Snapchat to become the most downloaded application in the United States in September, the Digital Journal reported on Monday, citing app intelligence firm Sensor Tower.

Racking up approximately 3.81 million installs from the iOS App Store and Google Play, with an increase of 31 percent from the previous month, Tik Tok has topped the U.S. download chart in September, followed by Facebook with 3.53 million first installs.
