"Knives Out," a Hollywood whodunit that was all the rage in North America over the Thanksgiving holiday, has turned out to be a box office success in China as it earned more than 100-million yuan by Monday noon.
That's according to a report from Maoyan, China's leading movie-ticketing platform. "Knives Out" opened in Chinese theatres on November 29.
The film's all-star cast including Daniel Craig ("007") and Chris Evans ("Captain America") is believed to be one of its selling points.
With a style of Agatha Christie's whodunits, the film has grabbed lots of moviegoers' attention.
"I'm a huge fan of detective stories. I've read hundreds of these types of stories, I was also surprised and blown away by this film. I dare say it will be one of the Top 5 theatrical releases of 2019," said a comment on the Chinese online social networking site Douban.
