The bill deliberately denigrated China's human rights situation in Xinjiang and wantonly smeared China's efforts to eliminate terrorism and combat extremism, said ministry spokesperson Hua Chunying.
It is a malicious attack on the Chinese government's policy of governing Xinjiang, stressed Hua, noting that it is not only a serious violation of international law and basic norms governing international relations, but also a grave interference in China's internal affairs.
On September 11, the U.S. Senate approved its version of the bill titled "Uygur Human Rights Policy Act of 2019."
