Plan aims to support NEV sales within China's car market
A draft plan by China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology is proposing that sales of new energy vehicles (NEVs) make up a quarter of the country's vehicle market by 2025.
The draft plan says that in 15 years' time, the competitiveness of the market for NEVs should improve significantly, with breakthroughs being achieved in key technologies regarding batteries, motors, and operating systems for electric vehicles (EV).
A well-planned network of smart charging facilities should also be in place to feed the booming EV market in China, the plan says.

China is now home to the world's largest EV charging network. Over one million charging piles have been built as of August this year, according to reports by Xinhua News Agency.
There were more than three million NEVs in China at the end of June, and over 2.8 million of them are fully electric, according to Beijing News.
