U.S. threatens 100% tariffs on $2.4 billion French goods
The U.S. government on Monday proposed action to impose additional duties of up to 100 percent on 2.4 billion U.S. dollars of French imports including Champagne, handbags, cheese and other products, after concluding that a new French digital services tax would harm U.S. tech companies.

"United States will take action against digital tax regimes that discriminate or otherwise impose undue burdens on U.S. companies," U.S. Trade Representative Robert Lighthizer said in a statement on Monday.
