Tourism booming during China's National Day holiday

China's National Day holiday, also known as the Golden Week, concluded on October 8 this year. The entire number of tourists visiting the country's capital during the eight-day national holiday reached 12.37 million, with an increase of 4.5 percent compared with the previous year.

Tourism revenue in Beijing generated during the holiday totaled 9.64 billion yuan, up 10.6 percent compared with the same period last year, according to the latest figures released by the Beijing Municipal Commission of Tourism Development.

During that period of time, 163 major tourists destinations in Beijing hosted 12.67 million visitors, producing 440 million yuan revenue. Compared with last year, historical resorts and natural scenic spots witnessed a surge in visitors, rising by 10.8 and 22.8 percent respectively; while visitors to parks located in downtown Beijing fell 1.3 percent.
