SuperCello to provide an auditory feast in Beijing

Chu Yibing is a 53-year old cellist, conductor and co-founder of Chu Yibing Cello Ensemble, a chamber music group in China. They often hold concerts in cities across China and have become popular among students. Chu Yibing has devoted himself to organizing the country's first full-day classical music festival called SuperCello.

Since its debut in 2016, SuperCello has provided opportunities for a large number of Chinese youngsters to interact with professors and young musicians. It also offers colorful events for audiences to experience recitals and attend master classes and workshops.

This event successfully transforms the concert hall of the National Library of China in Beijing, traditionally considered as a hallowed arena, into an amusement park.

Chu Yibing says there is no seat arrangement during the event, so people are able to sit or stand up anywhere they want to.

SuperCello will last from April 28 to May 1 this year. The event will kick off with exchange programs between Chinese and international students and a performance by the Romanian Youth Orchestra, followed by a master class on April 29, a Violoncello and Orchestra performance on April 30 and a free concert on May 1 by the China Youth Philharmonic Orchestra and five cellists from France and Germany.
