The Beijing public can now enjoy an infinity pool experience.
The facility was launched on National Fitness Day, August 8th, at the Water Cube National Aquatics Center in Beijing's Olympic Park.
The infinity pool, also known as the 'disappearing edge pool' is designed to give the impression that its edges merge with its surrounding environment.

According to the Beijing Municipal Bureau of Sports, the pool is seen as a trial of mobile sports facilities in Beijing. The pool can be built within a month, and takes just five days to dismantle. It can then be stored for later use.
Similar facilities are expected to pop up in other Beijing parks and communities.
25-meters long, 15-meters wide and 1.2 meters-deep, the pool is suitable for beginners or young adults. It can hold 150 swimmers at a time and will be open to the public from mid-June to mid-September each year. Winter swimming competitions might be considered in the future, depending on demand.

According to Li Yunfeng, vice general manager of the National Aquatics Center, from next year, Shade Sails will be installed in the pool to prevent swimmers from UV exposure. Swimmers will be able to see their reflection in the shade sails, thanks to the special material they'll be made from.
