Thailand promotes local cuisine in Beijing

The Royal Thai Embassy in Beijing, played host to the "Joyful Land of Smiles and World's Best Street Food" event on August 19. This cultural event was held with an eye on promoting Thai cuisine in China.

The Thai ambassador to China, H.E. Mr.Piriya Khempon attended the event, along with diplomatic envoys from other countries, Chinese government officials, and representatives from Chinese enterprises.
The event saw exhibitions of Thai-food and commodities, a Thai Food App press conference, performances of traditional singing and dancing, and a culinary show. Furthermore, the Thai Royal Embassy also promoted the Thai tourism industry and introduced its latest scenic resorts.

The Thai ambassador to China encouraged both nations to hold more of this kind of exchanges in the future, saying that they can lead to opportunities to learn about their respective cultures.
Ambassador Khempon also said that cultural exchange activities are able to deepen understanding between people from two sides and strengthen friendships between countries. The ambassador also noted that China and Thailand share a long-lasting friendship, and that "China and Thailand are one family".

Thailand is putting more efforts into promoting its cuisine in China, as well as the many Thai products the country exports. Furthermore, the hope is that Thai cooking culture will be widely spread across China, and foreign investments will be attracted in order to facilitate this initiative.

The "Street Food App" was introduced to the public during the event. The app aims to promote Thai gourmet cooking in the Chinese market by helping users find "authentic Thai cuisine".
