Beijing airport world's 2nd busiest in first half of 2018

Beijing Capital International Airport was ranked as the second busiest airport in the world in the first half of 2018, second only to Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport in the United States, according to a report released by Civil Aviation Data Analysis on Thursday.

In the first half of this year, 49.38 million passengers passed through the Beijing airport, a 5.91 percent increase on the previous year. The number of passengers travelling through the Atlanta airport reached 52.64 million, an increase of 2.46 percent.

The report says that an average of 30 million passengers passed through each of the world's 15 busiest airports in the first half of the year, and that passenger numbers grew by an average of 5.08 percent.

Hong Kong International Airport, Shanghai Pudong International Airport, and Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport were the three airports in China to follow Beijing in the rankings of the world's busiest, filling the 8th, 9th, and 11th spots in the world rankings.
