The app has been built by a technology company for the school. The running app uses directional technology to measure the speed and distance a student will run between any two points on the campus.
According to new rules at the school this this semester, students who run between two certain points over 30 times will earn them their athletics credit for the semester. Physical activity now accounts for 30% of the final exam for the freshman and sophomore students.

The college has more than 11,000 students running. Most students choose to run after dinner, according to data from the app.
"Everyone has a mobile phone and the use of the app is convenient for students," said Cui Gaoyuan, vice-president of Sports Economics and Management at the Hubei University of Economics.
However, some students have mixed views about the running app, with some suggesting that the app may affect the quality of the exercise students are getting, noting that many of the students like to work out in the gym, rather than on the campus.
