China's State Administration for Market Regulation says it will look into a report from Chinese air conditioner Gree which claims its competitor AUX falsifies energy standards to mislead customers.

The claim, posted on Gree's official Weibo account, lists 8 types of air conditioners manufactured by AUX that it claims don't meet environmental standards.

AUX has since stepped up to fight the claims, saying Gree is engaging in unfair competition, noting Gree is neither a consumer nor state regulatory authority.

AUX says it has already filed a lawsuit against the ungrounded accusation.

"We welcome supervision, in which we can jointly build a national reputation for quality," said Zheng Jiang, Chair of AUX.

This is not the first time Gree and AUX have gone to war. From 2016 to 2018, Gree successfully sued AUX more than 12 times for violating patent rights.
