青海湖裸鲤"逆流而上" Migratory fish swim against the stream in Qinghai Lake

Unique to Qinghai Lake(湖) in China, the naked carp(鲤鱼) migrate from the salt(咸) water lake to a nearby freshwater(淡水) lake to deposit their eggs(卵) every June. As of 2016, naked carp in Qinghai Lake were estimated(估计) at 70,800 tonnes. The species has almost no(没有) scales(鱼鳞) except near the anus and shoulder girdle, which is how they got the name "naked carp."
