故宫快闪店卖断货 Forbidden City souvenirs in high demand at Beijing pop-up shop
Souvenirs(纪念品) from the Palace Museum(故宫), more commonly known as the Forbidden City, are in high demand(需求) at a pop-up shop(快闪店) in Beijing, with most products(产品) sold out during the first weekend after its opening(开放), reports Chinanews.com.
The pop-up shop opened in Sanlitun on February 2 as part of the museum's Chinese New Year celebrations. Different(不同的) cultural events(文化活动) will be held at the shop each day until it closes(关闭) on March 4.
Products for sale include calendars(台历), adhesive tapes(胶带), jigsaw puzzles(七巧板), mugs(马克杯), and jewelry(珠宝) with designs from the museum's collections. Traditional Chinese snacks(中国传统小吃) are also on sale(销售).
The shop has been a popular(受欢迎的) attraction since it opened last week, especially among young people. The products have become popular gifts for the upcoming Chinese New Year.
Chen Gang, an employee working for the Palace Museum's snack brand, said the pop-up shop saw some 4,000 customers(顾客) per day during its first weekend. "Most products were soon sold out, and we had to urgently restock them on Monday," said Chen.
This is the first time that the museum has opened a pop-up shop. Chen said they chose the Sanlitun area in Beijing because(因为) it is a popular destination(去处) in the city for shopping, dining, and entertainment. He added that the museum may open pop-up shops in other cities.
The Palace Museum is also planning lectures(演讲), digital exhibitions(展览), theme restaurants(主题餐厅), and book stores(书店) to further promote traditional Chinese culture.
