Xi'an's Drum and Bell Towers

The chimes of the bell in the Bell Tower sounded out the hours of the day, while the drum in the Drum Tower kept time during the night. These two monuments inside the old walls of Xi'an were how the city kept time back in the days of the ancient Silk Road.
