Mountaintop action film "Wings Over Everest" out in China on Friday
A new Chinese action-adventure film set in the Himalayas comes out in cinemas in China on Friday.
"Wings over Everest" tells the story of Team Wings, a group of rescuers that faces deadly challenges from nature and from scheming enemies. The actress Zhang Jingchu plays the role of the team's only female member.
"To be able to shoot near Everest was a dream. I only deliberated for six hours before saying yes to it," Zhang said during an interview with Phoenix Entertainment. "Even if I got disfigured filming the movie, I really needed to do it."

Zhang's co-star is the Japanese actor Koji Yakusho, who plays the head of Team Wings.
Yu Fei wrote and directed the film. An experienced explorer and high-altitude mountain climber himself, he said that he planned a massive shooting schedule of 2,200 shots for the film, and shot 75 scenes a day in China, Canada, and Nepal.
"Thanks to Fei's climbing experience, the characters are written in a very touching real way," said the veteran film producer Terence Chang.
