Improper driving kills over 9,000 in China in first 10 months

A total of 9,656 people were killed and 58,675 were injured due to improper driving behaviors in China in the first 10 months of the year, said the Ministry of Public Security Monday.

The improper driving behaviors cited by the ministry refer to 10 types of driving practices that violate traffic regulations and are deemed "uncivilized," including illegal overtaking, illegal parking, illegal lane changing and not keeping a safe distance.

A total of 4,661 of the fatalities were caused by drivers that failed to give way to other vehicles or passengers, according to the ministry.
