A six-year-old boy was rescued by firefighters after he got his foot stuck in an escalator at an exhibition building in the city of Guangzhou in Guangdong Province on Sunday.

The incident took place at around 11:00 a.m. when the boy stepped on the escalator with his father. He quickly got his foot caught in the escalator. Firefighters arrived moments later, and tried to pry open the escalator so the boy could pull his foot out. After that failed, they decided to use a grinder and hydraulic shears to cut the escalator open. After about 10 minutes, the boy was freed and was sent to hospital.
