Celebrating Laba Festival at Mount Emei

Baoguo Temple at Mount Emei in Sichuan province offers rice porridge to tourists on January 24th. The day was December 8th in Chinese lunar calendar, which is also the Laba Festival. On this day every year, offering rice porridge is a common practice of temples. 

Tourists attended a praying ceremony for good luck.

In Chinese traditional culture, Laba Festival marks the beginning of Chinese lunar New Year period. This year's Chinese lunar New Year is in mid-February.
