China-Africa cooperation through Chinese railways Kenya lies about 10,000 km away from China, but archaeological evidence shows that back in the 9th century, China was already trading with the eastern coast of Africa through the Silk Road. Now, China is Kenya's biggest trading partner, and bilateral ties between the two are growing. Chinese-built roads and railways are now being used by the Kenyan people. The Mombasa-Nairobi Standard Gauge Railway (SGR), a 480-kilometer long Chinese-built railway will bring far-reaching benefits to Kenya through massively boosting economic growth in the country, and even in the whole of East Africa.
