Chinese telecoms giant Huawei has demonstrated remarkable sales growth over the last few years, both in China and overseas.

Now, the firm’s youth-oriented brand Honor is preparing to focus on international orders.

According to the company’s President George Zhao, in conversation with CNBC news, Honor eventually aims to have a 50:50 split between Chinese and overseas sales.

This figure could apparently be achievable as soon as 2020.

Honor phones are already available outside China. In the United Kingdom, for example, an Honor 9 Lite can be purchased for around £150 – a very reasonable price given the features of the device.

The news comes just a week after we reported that Huawei’s first model capable of running the technology will be available next year.

Pointing towards the second half of 2019 as a potential launch date, the company made the revelation at its global analyst summit in Shenzhen.

Of course, a fast device will only be as good as the network it runs on. For that reason, it’s likely that consumers in some countries will have to wait longer for the 5G experience than others.
