The executive order issued by U.S. President Donald Trump that could essentially ban the use of Huawei equipment in the United States won't make the country's networks more secure, according to a statement published in the New York Times on Friday from Catherine Chen, the director Huawei's board.

In the statement "America needs Huawei", Chen said that "a ban would fail to achieve its goal of making the country's digital networks more secure.

The security of our telecommunications networks is a responsibility shared by operators, equipment vendors and service providers……Huawei has repeatedly said it would refuse any order to attack or spy on its customers. "

Chen said that the White House and U.S. Commerce Department should focus on establishing a risk management approach that relies on recognized best practices, instead of barring individual companies.
