China, Central & Eastern Europe expo opens in east China

The China-Central and Eastern European Countries Expo opened Saturday in Ningbo, east China's Zhejiang Province.

Themed "deepening opening-up and cooperation for mutual benefit," the expo has attracted over 6,700 buyers from more than 40 Fortune 500 firms and other leading international enterprises in 22 countries and regions.

More than 700 government officials and businessmen from the Central and Eastern European countries attended the expo, said Fang Liqun, deputy head of the provincial department of commerce.

A total of 20 projects with the investment of more than 14.3 billion U.S. dollars have been signed at the Zhejiang Provincial Promotion Conference on the Belt and Road Construction, which was part of the expo.

Chinese companies and other institutions have signed the projects at the conference with the companies in 12 countries and regions including Luxembourg, Indonesia and Congo.

The expo, scheduled to close on June 12, includes over 20 events such as the image exhibition of Eastern European countries and the European commodity exhibition.

According to China's Ministry of Commerce, the total trade volume between China and Central and Eastern European countries reached 28.55 billion U.S. dollars in the first four months this year, up 7.9 percent year on year.
