Huawei's Honor brand to release a new smart TV

"The smart screen is not a traditional TV, but the future of TV," said Zhao Ming, the president of Honor, a subsidiary of Huawei, at a news conference in Beijing.

The Honor Smart Screen is designed to be an entertainment center, family data center, and the control center for smart home devices. There has been some media speculation that the new television will use the Hongmeng operating system.

The president of Honor said the company has reached out to other television manufacturers to express its willingness to share their technology and develop new products.

China's television market is already saturated, but the company is hoping that its independently-developed operating system and chips, and its mature supply and marketing chains, will give it an advantage.
