Students at a college in Changchun of northeast China's Jilin Province started to make a world map with some 300,000 used bottle caps on Wednesday, reports China News Service.
The project is expected to take a couple of days to finish.
It was planned to call for more efforts of environmental protection ahead of the Earth Day, which falls on April 22.
The bottle caps were collected by more than 10,000 students of the college over the past two weeks.
The map is 25 meters long and 12 meters wide. Countries are marked with the patterns of their national flags.
The organizer said the team will sell the map and donate the proceeds to environmental protection charities.
