The Chinese Postal Service has issued a commemorative stamp in the city of Xiamen to mark the upcoming ninth BRICS Summit slated for September 3 to 5.

The commemorative stamp is designed based upon the summit logo, along with some symbolic Xiamen scenery and cultural relics, as well as other iconic sites like Xiamen University.

Zhang Zhijun, the party secretary of the Xiamen branch of China Post, explains the reasons of issuing the commemorative stamp.

"Stamps are the calling cards of a nation and the best way to show the best of a nation. Xiamen, a beautiful coastal city which has made great progress in various fields in recent years, can show or be viewed as a microcosm of China's current development stage," said Zhang.

Many stamp collectors queued up hours before the commemorative stamp was officially issued.

China previously has issued stamps for the G20 Hangzhou Summit and the Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation.
