Tech company fined for creating "comfort women" emojis
Shanghai Siyanhui, a tech company which created emojis making fun of "comfort women", has been fined 15,000 yuan (US$2,258) and suspended from service for two months.

Shanghai police have made the announcement through its Weibo account on Sunday.
The police said that the company pursued profit in the face of morality.

Authorities also contend that it's illegal to create and spread emojis which ignore the suffering of "comfort women."

The tech company created five emojis using images from "Twenty Two," a Chinese documentary detailing the surviving "comfort women" from China.
