“China’s Hollywood” helps ordinary people to achieve their movie dreams
The “micro movie” industry helps ordinary people make their own movies on a professional movie set at the largest film studio in the world. Known as “China’s Hollywood,” Hengdian World Studios in Zhejiang Province is being utilized to make short movies for personal use staring everyday people.

This new but increasingly popular industry lets tourists pay to star in their own film, which is transforming and upgrading the studio’s tourism industry. Tourists pay to star in their own film, giving them a valuable memory and also a chance to experience the professional movie making process.
“We provided fragmented services for making personal movies before, but these services had never been integrated. We established a formal company at the end of last year.” Wuxiao said, the manager of a micro-movie company that caters to tourists.
Visitors can choose different projects according to their own traveling arrangements, with prices that depend in part on the length of the movie they would like to make. Prices can range anywhere between 30 to 1,500 US dollars.
Like an assembly line, Wu and his team have several basic frameworks including scripts, scenes, and clothing to ensure the quality and efficiency of their movie production. Their peak season during the summer months has taught them to streamline their business.
