Watching on-line video on 'Fuxing' bullet trains not a problem

Automatic switching to different WiFi networks to guarantee smooth internet surfing including watching a video is one of the cool features on China's newly unveiled "Fuxing" high-speed trains, thepaper.cn reported.

A staff member of CRRC Qingdao Sifang Rolling Stock Research Institute Co., Ltd. made the announcement at Modern Railways 2017, an international railway exhibition underway in Shanghai.

It is not easy to achieve stable internet access on high-speed trains due to frequent signal shifts and shielding of the coaches, the staff member said, which is why the configuration of nine SIM cards from different operators is needed.

The wireless network system can quickly identify when the signal of one operator is weak and automatically switch to another operator's network to guarantee the signal connection on the train, according to the staff member.

"The internet speed can be as high as 80-90 Mbps, and video access will be smooth," said the staff member.
