Swedish furniture giant IKEA is rebuffing suggestions that it should be recalling its so-called "killer dressers" in China.
The company has been accused in China of a "double standard" after it launched a recall of over 17 million of its Malm dressers in North America following the deaths of 8 children.
The heavy dresser can fall forward when not secured.
A 2-year-old boy in California was crushed to death in May after an unsecured Malm dresser fell on him.
IKEA has sold about 2 million Malm dressers in China since 2006.
Instead of a recall, the company says it will provide free services to secure the dressers in China.
It also says it will provide a full refund to buyers who want to return their Malm dressers.
Product quality regulators in Shanghai issued a call earlier this week for IKEA to recall its Malm line in China.
