Workers line up by 500 mln yuan "cash wall" to get year-end bonus

Workers from two steel corporations lined up by a 500-million- yuan (about 78 million U.S. dollar) wall of cash to receive their year-end bonus in Jiujiang, Jiangxi Province, on January 26, 2018, The Beijing News reported.

The two corporations are owned by the same shareholder group. The bonuses totaled 497 million yuan. One corporation gave out 258 million yuan, with each staff member receiving 50,000 yuan. The other gave out 239 million yuan, 30,000 yuan per staff member.

The first bonus was given at 9 a.m. and the last at 7:42 p.m. 

A director of the group explained that staff with special circumstances, like those suffering from cancer, diabetes or other diseases, could receive the year-end bonus of 30,000 yuan, even without attendance for the full year.
