The five-year-old panda arrived with a male, Jiao Qing, at the Berlin Zoo in July of last year on a 15-year loan.

The Berlin Zoo has also been awarded "Panda Moment of the Year" for the official opening of its Panda Garden and a bronze in the category for "Most Beautiful Panda Zoo Enclosure" at the ceremony.

Minister Counselor of the Chinese Embassy in Germany, Chen Ping, says he's happy that so many people around the world are taking an interest in the well-being of pandas.

Giant Panda Global Awards, dubbed the Oscars of the panda world, were initiated by Jeroen Jacobs, as a platform to draw attention to the threat facing giant pandas and to promote conservation efforts.

This year's awards attracted 300,000 panda fans from all over the world cast votes.
