The Lord Mayor made the remarks during an interview in Beijing. The mayor was in the city this week for the opening of the new China-UK Green Finance Center.

Mayor Bowman said the City of London has extensive experience when it comes to constructing smart cities, and that it can help with the development of smart and green industries in Xiong'an.

A business delegation led by Mayor Bowman has been travelling around China this month, making stops in Hong Kong, Shenzhen, Shanghai, and Beijing. The visit is part of a bid to strengthen London's commercial ties with China and promote its role as the western hub of the Belt and Road Initiative.
