CPC theory proved right by success of Hainan special economic zone: Xi

The success of special economic zones such as Hainan has proved that the basic theory, guideline and policy of the Communist Party of China (CPC) formed since the third plenary session of the 11th CPC Central Committee were "entirely right," Chinese President Xi Jinping said Friday.

The success has "fully proved that the strategic decision of the CPC Central Committee on establishing the special economic zones was entirely right," according to Xi, also general secretary of the CPC Central Committee and chairman of the Central Military Commission.

Xi made the remarks at a gathering celebrating the 30th anniversary of the founding of Hainan Province and the Hainan Special Economic Zone.

Xi said that the success has proved that whatever the reform touches and wherever it goes, the CPC leadership must be upheld to ensure that the Party charts the course, crafts overall plans, and designs the policy.

It has proved that reform and opening-up is a key choice that has determined the future of modern China, a source of vitality for modern China's development and progress, and the right path for China to achieve national rejuvenation, Xi said.

Also, he stressed the principal status of the people in the reform.
