Over 220,000 affected by heavy rain in Yunnan, Guangxi
More than 220,000 people have been affected by flooding after days of heavy downpours in southern China, according to local authorities.
In Yunnan Province, the heavy rain began Friday and as of 3 p.m. Monday, had affected around 98,000 people in Wenshan Zhuang and Miao Autonomous Prefecture, according to local authorities.
Some 131 people have been evacuated, more than 3,880 hectares of crops and nearly 200 houses have been damaged.
Downpours have hit Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region since Wednesday. As of 3 p.m. Monday, heavy rain had affected more than 124,000 people and forced the relocation of nearly 2,000 people.
Downpours damaged about 5,630 hectares of crops and flattened or damaged about 1,000 houses.
Heavy rain is expected to last until Tuesday in Guangxi, according to the region's meteorological department.
