Nanjing Massacre monument unveiled in Canada
A monument commemorating the Nanjing Massacre has been unveiled on Sunday in the Canadian city of Toronto on Sunday, December 9, 2018 to honor the victims, reports China Daily.

Hundreds of representatives from all walks of life in Canada have attended the unveiling. Backers of the memorial say they've designed it to remind people about the history of the tragic events which unfolded in China during World War II.

The black marble monument has been financed by Chinese Canadian organizations and societies at a cost of 240,000 Canadian dollars. The color of the monument has been chosen as a symbol of the dark period of human history.

"Remembering the history and praying for the peace" is engraved on the book-shape monument.
