Leaders of China's tech giants offer suggestions at the Two Sessions

Many of the leaders of China's tech giants have offered up policy suggestions during the ongoing Two Sessions in Beijing.

The Two Sessions are the meetings of the country's legislature the National People's Congress (NPC), and its top political advisory body the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC).

This is the seventh year that Li Yanhong, also known as Robin Li, the CEO and founder of Baidu, has served as a CPPCC member. Li Yanhong ranked third on the global top 10 figures in Artificial Research published by Harvard Business Review in December 2018.

This year, he called for more research on the ethics of Artificial Intelligence technology.

"I suggest that the purpose of Artificial Intelligence is to help human beings, instead of hurting people. As this technology is fast developing, there is a need to get a better handle on the relationship between machines and human beings," he said.

He also called for greater international cooperation in Artificial Intelligence research.

Ma Huateng, also known as Pony Ma, is an NPC deputy and the chairman of Tencent. For the third year in a row, he has submitted proposals regarding the protection of young people online. He has suggested building a management platform that helps guardians to tailor the content available to their children.

Lei Jun: Make full use of 5G technology in the healthcare sector

Lei Jun is an NPC deputy and the chairman and CEO of Xiaomi. His proposals this year are focused on the rollout of 5G technology. He has called for it to be used to improve the delivery of medical treatments by the healthcare sector.
