Kunxun was cloned from a seven-year-old dog that helped in scores of cases. It got used to its new environment quickly and has a good personality, said Wan Jiusheng, a researcher at Kunming Police Dog Base.
Kunxun can find food hidden in the grass quickly and is alert to various sounds, said Wan.
Police dogs start basic training when they are 75 days old. Six-month-old dogs will get additional specialized training that varies from tracking to sniffing-out drugs to guard duty, according to Wan.
Kunxun may graduate from training after eight months.
